STILLWATER, Okla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oklahoma State University is making it easier than ever to view video that showcases its events, people, expertise and spirit with the launch today of OStateTV, available at http://OState.TV.

“Our new online video network represents an opportunity to fulfill our land-grant mission of instruction, research and outreach in a more effective manner using the latest in tools and technology to connect and communicate with anyone, anywhere and at any time.”

OStateTV is the one-stop source for OSU video, bringing together OSU campuses, colleges and organizations, as well as students, employees and alumni, through a variety of online channels on one platform. Content is accessible across all devices: personal computers, tablets and smart phones.

“We’re excited to launch OStateTV, a digital content-rich video network which will enable us to vividly showcase the many great developments and advancements happening here at Oklahoma State through attractive imagery and exceptional storytelling,” commented OSU President Burns Hargis. “Our new online video network represents an opportunity to fulfill our land-grant mission of instruction, research and outreach in a more effective manner using the latest in tools and technology to connect and communicate with anyone, anywhere and at any time.”

Hargis continued, “Video has emerged as a very effective way to tell our unique story at Oklahoma State, and we have many interesting and compelling stories to tell.”

Oklahoma State collaborated with thePlatform, an independent subsidiary of Comcast, and Hemisphere Interactive, leaders in online video, to develop OStateTV and Oklahoma based Ackerman McQueen, a full service interactive digital, branding and traditional advertising and production agency.

”Oklahoma State is at the forefront of innovation with the launch of OStateTV,” said Marty Roberts, senior vice president of sales and marketing of thePlatform. “Through thePlatform, OSU is leveraging the same high-quality video publishing system used by many of the most prominent media and entertainment companies in the world, in order to create a compelling custom video experience for their students, alumni, and fans.”

“Universities are creating more valuable content across more areas of study and interest than most major media companies,” said Ken Ruck, president of Hemisphere Interactive. “This partnership with Oklahoma State is creating the most powerful video distribution system for the university space.”

“We continue to see massive growth in consumption of media online in video over text,” commented Ed Martin, President of Ackerman McQueen. “Oklahoma State is a vibrant institution with a global presence and a fascinating land grant heritage. The University now has an online network where it can raise awareness and create excitement through vivid storytelling using video.”

OStateTV also will serve as a valuable laboratory for OSU School of Media and Strategic Communications students, who will provide content, including video projects for classroom work and a regular student-produced sports show.

“OStateTV provides our students a broad, leading-edge outlet for their work, but just as importantly, it offers hands-on, day-to-day experience in the latest form of video production and distribution,” said Derina Holtzhausen, department head, OSU School of Media and Strategic Communications.

With today’s launch, OStateTV is introducing more than 30 online channels of content. Users can access content via topics — such as Arts, Humanities; Education, Learning; Human Health, Wellness; Research; Sports, Leisure — or through the various OSU campuses and colleges. Most of the channels feature an elegant preview video. Hargis provides an introduction to the system on the main OStateTV page.

“We want to thank Oklahoma City-based Ackerman McQueen for producing the beautifully crafted inaugural videos that populate the site. Their innovative approach and creative execution of the content helped guide the project to the final product,” said Hargis.

OStateTV offers a unique video experience, utilizing social media, user generated content and feedback capabilities for advanced interaction and sharing. Users are encouraged to use the register link to sign up and fully engage with the OStateTV community.

The university will broadcast its Oct. 20 homecoming parade and its Nov. 1 OStateTEDx event live. It also will carry live athletic events, musical concerts, featured speakers and more.
